I grew up in rural Southeastern Oklahoma. My family always had cattle and I remember daily conversations from my childhood about the weather, the cattle market, the cost of feed and fertilizer, etc. As a child it seemed like Dad always talked about rain – either too much or lack thereof. Agriculture is affected by so many things which are out of the farmer/rancher’s control. But if it weren’t for those men and women willing to take the risks, where would we be? So, I love what I do – helping farmers and ranchers produce food and fiber.
In 1984, I graduated from Oklahoma State University with a BS degree in Agricultural Economics. In 1991, I obtained my CPA license.
I’ve been married to my high school sweetheart for 35+ years and we have two grown sons, a daughter-in-law, and a beautiful granddaughter. My husband and I have a 150 head commercial cow operation on owned and leased land in Red River County. I currently serve on the Lamar County AgriLife Extension Service Crops Committee and have served on other boards in the past such as the Detroit ISD School Board and the Red River County Chamber of Commerce.
Previously, I worked in the accounting profession as a CPA. But in 2003, I landed my dream job – working for Lone Star Ag Credit! I love helping people achieve their goals for country life, whether that be securing land for farming or ranching, building a new home, or getting a place in the country to bring their family from the city on weekends.
